East Carolina: All time dumbest firing & hiring

I never understood the firing of Ruffin McNeil, but ECU admin justified it saying they needed a new coach to take them to the next level. OK, I get it, makes sense if they have a home run hire in the wings
But instead they hire the OC of a program ECU was better than when Ruffin was there, an OC who had no control over Duke's offense(Cutcliffe did), and had no head coaching experience. WTF? Made no sense.
Well ECU went 4-8 last year and got blown out by James Madison Week 1 and is down 49-3 at half to WVU.

I don't know how ECU got so bad so fast, WVU could score 100 points today if they wanted to.
Grier has 4 TDs and 350 yards at half and would have more if it weren't for drops.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. The ECU folks across the border from me have said the exact same thing. They are so disillusioned about the state of their program.

Worst part, was that their former coach was one of them, not some carpet bagger trying to pad his bio to move on. He was there for good.

They were genuinely one of the top non-P5 programs for years. Hell, they were notably better than a good many of the lower tier P5 programs.
Their precipitous decline is really something else.

I remember arguing with ECU fans. They thought Scottie Montgomery was a home run hire.

I work in North Carolina on Wednesdays and Thursdays and get fired up when when I see someone wearing purple n gold just realize they are ECU fans.

As an ECU grad who's familiar with both staffs, I know very few people who thought this was a good decision. In fact, some people bailed on the program out of loyalty to Ruffin McNeil...not sure who you talked to
