I have a Epson XP-430 with an error code 0xF1.
I have tried resetting it, removed the ink, reset, still same thing. Google epson service, get passed around on the phone through 3-4 people. Guy accesses my computer through GoTo Assist. Says my computer needs cleaning out, here is where it gets funny...

He pulls up note pad and starts typing out "One time payment of $199 due immediately. Please enter your name, phone number and cc number."

I immediately freak out, end the call and shut down computer and unplug the router.

Am I fawked? Anyone else had this happen?

You've been scammed. Who knows what software he might have installed on your computer?

But I can help for a one time payment of $199. Just post your name, phone number and cc number and I will contact you shortly.

If they actually used GotoAssist you better make sure you didn't install the unattended access portion of it.

You are more than likely fine.

You allowed a guy to do that for printer issues?

Did he have an Indian accent?

Whenever you want to get help or information on a product - always go directly to the manufacturer's web site home page and navigate from there. www.epson.com Or, at least check the url before clicking and make sure it is a link to the manufacturer (epson.com)

Definitely hacked, heard almost exact same setup happen to others. You should do a restore point to before this happened incase anything was loaded. Also run some virus and malware scans.

Safer to just wipe and reinstall the OS.
