I looked at your previous posts and came to a conclusion. Post less.

I have faith in O, Jenkins, and Aranda that they know what they're doing with Gilmore at DT.

On Monday, junior defensive tackle Greg Gilmore said he was pleased to know that Jenkins would be coming in to take over for Orgeron while he assumes Miles’ responsibilities. Jenkins has worked with collegiate defensive linemen, including Gilmore, at Traction Center for Sports Performance in Baton Rouge.

Orgeron tweeted a picture of Jenkins meeting with the team for first time Tuesday.

“I know everything about coach Pete,” Gilmore said. “We have worked with him a number of times since coach ‘O’ has been here. I called him a couple of times for help with my technique and he’s kind of overseen my development.

“When I don’t understand a certain technique, I can call him. He puts it in crazy ways to help me visualize playing the technique. There will be no drop-off in (defensive line) coaching when it comes to that aspect.”

with key and divinity on the olb spots and white and Alexander in the middle ??

I'm still hoping Divinity grabs that middle spot next to White just because Martin, Anthony, Washington, and Thornton provide so many strong options for the outside. But I expect the staff to make the right call here.

We rotate our defensive line alot. There will be plenty of snaps to go around. Aranda likes to keep the front 7 fresh.

Agree! Guy has the size and athleticism to be a superb ILB in the 3-4 set with White. He needs to be on the field. With White you have two athletes that can run to the ball and DROP ball-carriers. Not sold on Alexander's ability to make that drop at the point of attack. To me he is more of a 'clean-up/assist' type tackler.

Also looking fwd to seeing if either incoming ILB FR can make an impact and garner some meaningful PT.

LB's overall will be young, but the skill sets are there for DA to put them in positions to be successful.

It's a moot point. They will share snaps....Probably evenly

I agree that Alexander will eventually outshine Gilmore though

Gilmore was on skates in Wisky game when he would come in for Valentine, he was awful. I saw some progress as the year went in, but not much. Hope he has made huge gains in the weight room (lower body strength)

If not, and he's the best we have, it would worry me it will be a long year again up the middle against the big boys.

I don't know if Gilmore starts in front of Alexander
it's like I tell my little girl would you rather start and play two minutes a game or would you rather come in and play 18? Point of the story is don't matter who starts it's who plays more

I think if Frank Herron doesn't get in any kind of trouble again, I look to him having a huge year, whether he starts or not.

Ehh not as much as in the past. The depth just hadn't been there, and for several years the good ones don't make it past their 3rd year.

We most definitely did not last year. Neal and Godchaux specifically played WAY WAY more than Herron and Lawrence. They both had 60+ tackles.

I'm sure we will have a heavy rotation on the d-line. Who starts isn't a huge deal

I hope to see big things from Lawrence this year. And I hope Gilmore makes big strides this year.

The good news is, regardless of who starts, it looks like LSU's DL will have quality depth this season. One of the keys to having a successful DL is a little word called ROTATION.

I hope this is the case, or that Gilmore has somehow gotten a lot stronger, which I doubt.
he just isn't a NT. The kid gives great effort and sounds like a great kid off the field and all, but he's not good. Hope he got much better, or that this starting is just an honorary thing and he won't be playing much.

If we go through the season and we rarely hear anything about the NT, that's a good thing. Means they are commanding double teams and doing their job occupying a space and lineman while others make the play.
I don't want to go through a season again where our NT doesn't make any plays, not b/c of the reason above, but b/c one lineman is capable of driving him off the line of scrimmage every play like with Gilmore most of last season. He had 1 tackle for a loss all last season. I don't expect him to have a ton, but i'd expect more than once you should be able to break free and make a play.

I think it's safe to bet that Coach O wouldn't pull this kind of crap, least of all on the D-Line.
