Do you really believe that this is the only quality that separates Saban from the rest?

Well, no, because he's obviously got the hookup on large quantities of deer antler spray.

So to sum up....

A talent advantage
An unlimited supply of deer antler spray.

Staying at Bama would be admitting that Pete Carroll succeeded at the elite level and he didn't/couldn't. The question is can his ego handle that.

The only way Saban can win championships is by talent advantage and that won't happen in NFL, he knows it and he said it.

Exactly. He's a very average tactician and that's been shown many times. Recruiting with an unlimited budget is what sets him apart.

Pete Carroll didn't have the college success that Saban has had, and Pete Carroll lost as a 40+ point favorite to Stanford. Say whatever you want about Pete Carroll at Seattle, but let's not have revisionist history make us think that Carroll belongs in the same conversation with Saban in terms of college coaching resumes.

(and Pete needed the 3rd stint in the NFL to really be successful. He was 6-10 in his first year in the NFL and got summarily fired. He then went 27-21 in 3 seasons in NE, having a worse record each year compared to the previous. In his first two stints as an NFL HC his record was 33-31, not exactly lighting the world on fire. I doubt Saban spends any time concerned with how anyone views him compared to Carroll)

Only way Saban leaves for NFL is if Bama gets the NCAA hammer.

He'd bail on the Tide just like ol' Pete did at USC

Nah, he would be more likely to retire than to jump to the NFL. Hopefully, Canada could make his decision to retire a little easier by ending his reign in the SEC.

You do realise that Carroll had a better overall win percentage and a better percentage in bowls during his time at USC than saban does at Alabama right?

Likelihood doesn't change. Saban is NOT leaving Bama until he retires. It's time for LSU fans and all college football fans to accept that.

We don't need this yearly thread any more.

the mans not going back to the nfl. Not this year or any year. I think he will coach another 5 years at least at bama. It's just not in his blood to retire.
