For me the biggest miss was Pelican Club. I do not need to go there again. Overpriced for the quality of food, ambiance was really bad and this seven top of obnoxious drunks made for one of my worst dining experiences ever.

The biggest hit was Cafe Adelaide. Having never been before I was really impressed by the food. The gumbo was excellent, the turtle soup was the same as Commander's which is just greatness. The apps and salads were really good, service was impeccable. It's a very casual place as well. not one of us had a fault in any dish.
Never hear anything about it and it was dead last night. In fact we only went there because we couldn't get a table for five at K-Paul's.

excellent food and I will go there instead of a Harrah's property when gambling and wanting to munch.

Had a great meal at Carrolton Market a week ago. It's underrated. IMO

Hits:
Commander's Palace
Carrollton Market

Misses:
Not really Coolinary, but went to Coquette for their No Menu Tuesday. Huge disappointment. It was heart breaking because it was my favorite restaurant in New Orleans prior to this experience.

Hits:
Galatoire's Lunch (Got the fish, nice portion)
Cafe Adelaide lunch (Seafood gumbo was excellent as you said)

Misses:
LMNO lunch. Walked over to the restaurant for them to tell us they don't serve lunch, only breakfast, even though the place was listed on the Coolinary website with a lunch menu

I haven't been there in years, may try it.

Restaurant week is in two weeks as well.

Whatever you do, don't get the gumbo at Brigsten's. For as good as everything else is, the gumbo is awful.

I used to hit these deals up and felt like they had some decent value out there, but I've lost interest in it. They force a menu on you and prices don't seem to be a deal anymore.

I'm looking at restaurant week and it seems to be the same thing as Coolinary month.

I rarely try gumbo at restaurants because historically, I'm disappointed. The chef has had pics of his on FB quite often and it looks a bit light and thick for my taste. I'm surprised it's not good since he worked under Prudhomme.

I just went to Peche and Paladar 511 instead. Better food than the vast majority of participating coolinary restaurants. Saved $$, too.

It kind of isn't. We paid $165 incl tip for two at Pelican club and $270 incl tip at Adelaide (four people)

About what you normally spend at a nice restaurant.

Someone else told me this. When two random unrelated people relay the same info to me I follow it.

I wish I can find the video of my grandma making gumbo. She never measured anything, but it was so good.
We used to look forward to every family gathering because she would always have it. I can make a good gumbo, but I can't make Grandma's gumbo.
