Current Cincinnati offensive coordinator Eddie Gran will interview for the UAB head coaching vacancy later this week, according to a source.

Gran spent his first season at Cincinnati under former Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville. Gran is a 27-year coaching veteran. Prior to Cincinnati, Gran coached at Florida State (when FSU won the ACC Championship and Orange Bowl in 2012), Tennessee (in 2009 under Lane Kiffin) and spent 10 seasons at Auburn under Tuberville.

UAB: A source tells CoachingSearch that Oregon defensive backs coach John Neal will interview for the UAB head coaching job.

He's a good recruiter. I guess he can pull in the best leftovers of the leftovers from Florida.

The last two UAB coaches had zero head coaching experience. I'd rather have a successful head coach, even if he's from D2.

Sounds like another Bear, Jr. choice for UAB.

I can't see them hiring him. Like someone said, they've been burned too many times on guys without HC experience to do it again. I could see them going to the high school ranks before taking another assistant.

Updated. Old school UAB fans and players love them some John Neal for some reason he is a fan favorite.

John Neal was an assistant back when we had a good defense, IIRC. That's probably where the love comes from.
