I learned spanish. If I hadn't loved what I was doing I would have quit. It can be pretty brutal. Anyone who says learning any language is easy is full of shite.

Spanish - Studied abroad for 1 year in college (lived with a host family), took classes, watched TV

Portuguese - Fairly easy to learn once you learn Spanish. I'm definitely not fluent but I can read it fairly well.

Russian - 2 years in college, plus some self study. I want to get serious about learning it but got damn, it's freaking hard.

I really want to learn japanese, but all I know are just some functional phrases.

I don't think I'll get to the writing/reading parts

It's a minor life goal of mine to learn Spanish. Living in Houston it is inexcusable to not speak Spanish if you want to learn. Especially working in healthcare. Plenty of real word practice/application.

There's a great app called Duolingo...it's free and basically the same thing as Rosetta Stone with lessons and categories.

Thanks for posting this. Just downloaded and did a few French lessons. Very neat and efficient way to try and learn some.

2 years of German at LSU and I plan to continue learning that language. If nothing else, it would be cool to be trilingual.
