The new ads that started on mobile a few weeks ago aren't the regular google ads like on the computer. They literally change depending on the subject of the thread, they're that sensitive.

Back when I relentlessly busted Wiki's balls on Money Talk regarding bitcoin, I was seeing ads for Butterfly Labs bitcoin mining equipment all over TD ,
ETA: The mining equipment prices were all in USD, btw

I've noticed the same thing on my laptop. I've had several banner ads that were directly related to the thread I was reading.
As far as basing ads on your browser history, I guess I should start visiting the Victoria's Secret webpage
