A friend gave me a john boat, and I had it equipped with a small motor. Used it the first time Sunday, terrible weather, took it out on Cross Lake from one of the marinas. First time fishing by myself, and I had a great time even though I didn't catch anything (and it was probably a terrible day to try to catch anything). I didn't care. Had some Sherry in a flask and my dog and had a great time.

Do you enjoy fishing when you don't catch anything?

Bad day fishing is better than a good day working

Did you go to a titty joint on your way home?

I dont have to catch anything to have a good time. It's more about the experience of being out there than what I bring home.

Not really, it frustrates me when I can't figure them out.

What were you fishing for?

There were a bunch of those (black scoter) hanging around the marina (at least it seemed to me they looked like that duck)

Pretty cool. I've caught a few overs off of that blind.

Anything. I really don't know what I am doing. I had practiced casting, as suggested by members of this board, then I bought some lures. I don't even know if they were the right kind of lure.

I always catch a buzz, and I consider that a great time.

I think so. One of several big blinds just East of Pine Island.

Fished one in October brushed with pine trees.

Probably this one. He has a very neat setup out there. Kills crazy varieties of birds. You can have a pintail, canvasback, mallard, speck goose, Redhead, teal all in the same hunt.

Those are generally the best blinds on Cross. That lake holds a surprising number of ducks, but most are in the backs of pockets, near houses and away from the blinds. Hicks pocket was stupid late last January.
