I'm not positive but I don't think it is. I don't think anybody will coach a program like LSU for anything less than 3 million a year. And that will only increase yearly. Am I wrong? I'm asking.

I say this as someone who is ready for Miles to explore other opportunities.

The whole focus people have on his salary is ridiculous. Who gives a shite how much money he makes. If he can convince LSU to pay him, then good for him.

NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON HERE BITCHING ABOUT HIS SALARY WOULD GIVE A PENNY BACK IF THEY WERE IN HIS SHOES.

Yeah no shite.... I dont think anybody is angry at Les Miles for making that much $$$... more so angry that Alleva gave him that raise when Miles bluffed that he was thinking of going to Arky crap came out. Like you said, if you can get that $$$, then props to you.

But, in any field, you pay the best in the business top $$$. Is Les the best in the business? Not by a long shot. Thats where I think people have the issue. Les the coach doesnt warrant top $$$.

The only person overpaid on that list IMO is Bielema.

first, Les is making about what he deserves, based on his results, when compared to his peers. He would be making closer to Saban money if he had another BCS in the bag. Second, an organization will typically pay top personnel closer to the value of the position vs. the value of the person. Yes it will swing up or down a little based on the person, but you want the attraction of the job to remain strong as well as the signal it sends regarding confidence in your leader in competitive situations. Coaches get extensions for recruiting purposes, not performance purposes...

Malzahn and Pinkel will both get significant raises if they make the SECCG.

Miles got the raise because he just had the best regular season in school history and brought home another SEC title

Over the time Les has been at LSU, they have been around the 7th best team in the country. He's the 7th highest paid coach and therefore is being compensated accordingly.

If that were true, he would of gotten his raise and extension in the off season after the 2011 season, not during November of the 2012 year.

Arkansas offered Les a 5 year $27.5 mill contract on the morning of Nov 28th, 2012. Then Les gets a $549,000 pay raise per year and a new 7th year contract on the evening of Nov 28th, 2012.

He got his raise and extensions because he was being courted by Arky and Alleva has no balls.
