"The Chosen",
This idiotic concept started with Jacob Hester in 2007 and continues to this day. To be in Miles favor you somehow have to become some underrated "Rudy" type who overcame something or have a big heart or 'chest', or you have to be some sort of moral leader on the field who fills big shoes. Your talent is secondary.

That's got to be a new one.

probably the only coach who would run a fullback from the 5 yard line too.

No, just no. I've seen the wide shot of that play, it was Mills fault. We were playing man defense across the board. Mills was in lala land and played zone, Martin was in man just like everyone but mills.

I can't believe no one mentioned how he gave up on the play and never attempted to chase him down

The doctrine of benching our players should they make a mistake is f'ng moronic.

You are correct. Miles has a junior high school approach to some discipline scenarios. You gotta go with your best in the big games Les. This is not junior high.

Line of scrimmage was Bama 48. Ronald Martin was lined up at least 20 yards off of scrimmage. He doesn't even come into the picture until the TE was 22 yards down field at the LSU 30.

Who was he man up on? What was his responsibility on the play other than to cover over the top? Play at :50 mark

That ain't the wide shot, Martin was on a guy over there, he left his man after they throw on mills.

Mills said Tuesday to the media that play was a blown coverage.

Check it out again. Verne even says "Howard split out to the right side..." Two WRs and TE on left side. AJ and RB in back field...5 lineman. That's 11 lined up. So I'll ask again. Who was Martin manned up on 20 yards off the ball right half of the field?

ETA: Different Angle 38:05. Who was Martin covering?

What'd you expect him to say? Martin took a bad angle and gave up the TD?

So it's proven the OP was incorrect in his assessment but posters continue with the original premise as if it were true. I guess when your main agenda is to slam Miles, the truth doesn't matter. Proceed with the misinformed bashing.

I watched that and the fact that Copeland wasn't let back into the game and left after that play. I knew we were going to go full retard and couldn't bear to watch it.

So now Miles meddles in the defense?

So, we give up only 179 passing and one play was 52 yards, so we give up about 125 yards the whole game. That was "going after #28 all night"? In fact, we only gave up about 75 yards passing in the 2nd half. It wasn't the pass defense, it was the run defense that killed us. Not defending the move, but just corrected the premise.

Yeah, but 2 passing TDs were directly on Mills. Tyrann makes that tackle or even better, makes the guy fumble. You take out Robinson and we get burnt.

Not really questionable. Robinson had a hand full of the receiver's jersey for more than just a nanosecond; we'd have screamed for PI if the roles were reversed.

yeah but when the rules should have been reversed (severe holding on replayed TDs with Gary D saying good job), nothing was done about it.

Mills gets burned often . If I saw mills in person I would have to ask him to turn around , I only know him from chasing opposing receivers

Making a mistake is one thing but lack of effort is inexcusable. He screws up and doesn't hustle to attempt to prevent the score. Ask him about that if you get the chance or ask Miles why the hell he tolerates that bullshite
