pretty good day for Mett

too bad we played to ALabamas strength and pounded it into the brick wall that is their D line on every first and second down

Our play calling is so predictable that my 78 year old mom can tell what plays are coming.

Just once I want to see shotgun 4 wide on 1st or 2nd. Would love to see us run the ball out of more spread formations

Not bad, but overall that was probably the worst offensive regular season game against bama since 2002.

68 yards & no touchdowns in the 2nd half.

Really?

Mett did throw about 3-4 passes that easily could have been picked off, but he played with heart all night despite an OL that couldn't do shite. I too was befuddled by the play calling last night. We had little success, especially in the second half running the ball, yet we ran it more than we threw it

Difference, at least a good part, was the QB play.

Two plays to demonstrate a point:

AJ was patient and hits his TE for a TD. It was busted coverage and AJ found the right receiver.

LSU down by 14. It was a 3 DB on 2 WR set on the left side. Mett needed to read it correctly and throw to the WR with one-on-one coverage and who BEAT the coverage. Mett locks in on a receiver and throws in double coverage. Incomplete. This would have been a TD with the right read.

I love Mett. Mett has better QB skills. AJ is a better QB.

Because Bama was covering with 6 and rushing 5. The correct play was to run.

Bama forced the RB to try to sweep to the ends or bounce out. Our RB should have slammed into the holes and try to bust out from there.

Even with Bama covering with 6, a couple of those covering were in zone reads....so, it allowed these players to keep the ends sealed when LSU tried to sweep or the RB tried to bounce out.

Missed opportunities along with a poor defense, and not play calling was the problem. We walked up and down the field on them in the first half. If not for a fumble the score is 21-7, or 21-14 at best. Defense cannot stop anyone was the major issue. Once they got up on us, we had to become one dimensional and they teed off on us.

And if we'd thrown it you'd be be bitching about not running enough.

I think we needed to stick to the run at least a little bit, but in that third quarter when we ran, ran, then passed for two three and outs in that 3rd quarter, I knew it was over.

yes, I watched us completely control the ball with the ground game in the 2nd half of the 9-6 game.

I guess the difference is this year's game we did nothing in the 2nd half and that year's game we played our best down the stretch.

This has been the case since the UF game....the return of last year's toss dive on 1st down, toss dive on 2nd down, pass on 3rd and long.
