Going to be purchasing a scope for this rifle. What would you put on it?

500ish max

I'd like to put the right thing on it though. Not going to blow my wad.
Not really familiar with scopes though.

Get a Leupold.

I've got one on 4 different rifles and my .44mag, superblackhawk.

None have ever given me a problem.

Go to Leupold's website - then click on their custom shop. You can build an awesome scope with your name engraved on the turret and a BDC matched to your favorite load. You can do it all for under $500.

Second choice - Zeiss Conquest, I can only speak to the older version of the conquest, not the Terra. I have the exact same rig you are building, but in .300 win mag and it has a Zeiss on it and I have been extremely pleased, from Texas to Alaska it has worked great.

what do yall think about the following:

Nikon Monarch 3; 4-16; 50mm; Nikoplex; $500
- one with bullet drop compensation is $510

Vortex Viper HS; 4-15; 5mm; $540

Thoughts on power level between 3.5-10 or 4-15?

Also thoughts on MM amount between 40 and 50?

is it worth paying $650 for the Leupold VX-3 4.5-14; 5mm?

eta: again i would mostly be using this rifle for casual deer hunting (1-3 times a year). however it would be something i'd keep long term.

I would go with Redfield or Leupold in that range. Have both and they work great. Have been impressed with Redfield scopes and mounts over the years. In one particular situation, I dropped my rifle several feet while climbing a ridge in Colorado. The scope took it hard against a rock and it was almost like looking through a coke bottle. I walked another 1/4 mile to find a place to shoot my gun. I spotted a coke-can-size rock about 100 yards away across a small draw. I squeezed the trigger and the rock exploded as the bullet hit it. Just then, a mule deer buck jumped out of the draw and the next shot went right through his lungs. That made me a believer in Redfield and have never had any issues.
