Nicks is at the end of his contract when the season is over.

Did not know this.

A half season rental of Hicks, baseball style would be very worth it if the price is right.

If the price is Ingram, and only Ingram. I'd say it would be something the Saints would have to think long and hard about.

Came here to bash this, but it's actually a pretty good trade. Both teams fill a need.

Nick's isn't the same guy you saw in their playoff run to the SB. He's had foot and knee problems since then and hasn't been the same guy. Plus Colston already fill the Nicks role on the team.

He'll get overpaid in the offseason. Do not want.

I know this. But he would still bring more to the table than Ingram.

That's fine. I never said I want them to sign him long term. I don't see why anyone would mind getting him as a rental for the rest of the year, if the cost was just Ingram.

It's not going to happen, but getting Nicks for the rest of the year would be better than anything they could get for Ingram.

Nicks has the ability to be a threat downfield on the outside. I'm not sure if Colston is playing injuried but he looks a step slower. He never has been a stretch the field receiver anyway. Colston has made his living exploiting mismatches with LB's & safeties over the middle & down the seams.

This is irrelevant when discussing a half season rental of Nicks. Whatever contract a team decides to give him in the offseason is meaningless.

Hakeem's played all six games this season with no injuries...
Plus, it'd be nice to send another running back to NY to fail

This is the NFL and not the NBA or MLB. There will be no big trades for the Saints. Grow the frick up everybody.

In the past, this would indeed be the case but there have already been several in season trades in the NFL already. Trent Richardson from the Browns to the Colts, the 49ers & Chiefs swapping WR with Jonathan Baldwin & A.J. Jenkins, Jon Beason from the Panthers to the Giants have all occurred since the season started. There was also a trade of an offensive line but I can't recall who the lineman was or which teams made the deal. So yeah, you are wrong for just blatantly dismissing this possibility.

No one knows this for sure but this a message board where matters like this can be discussed by us fans, you know.

Nicks >>>>> Colston

the Giants would never do the deal for big fat mark's worthless arse, but if offered I'd take it even it'd just be a rental for the season. He'd contribute more in a few weeks than ingram has his entire career.

Unfortunately I don't think there's a market for a slow power back who runs with no power and is always hurt.
