I'm surprised that so many in this thread are unaware of the fact UT and VT have been trying to get this done for years. Both can bases are excited about this
Well these 2 can bases are probably excited, but their programs are in a pretty consistent decline and will probably continue to do so

They still have a ton of fans, at least till basketball season when most of Tech's fans turn into Duke or UNC fans.

Good luck seeing any of the game if you sit in one of the end zones.

Well done.

I have a friend in Brooklyn who roots for "East Carolina in football, Duke in basketball."

Yea, I have a good friend in Richmond that is a VT fan in football and Duke in basketball. His brother likes to see Tech do well too, but at least is Duke football first.

Maybe it would be different if VT had basketball history like VCU or even the god-awful ODU.

TN seats 102k VT seats 66k both teams routinely sell out their stadiums. Tell me again how this game that both fanbases have been clamoring for for 20 years won't sell out easily?

They will likely run the field east-west with the endzones at turns 1 and 2 or 3 and 4...similarly to how they used to do basketball in the Superdome, Georgia Dome or RCA Dome for Final Fours

wouldn't make that even worse or damn near impossible to watch the game from the other side of the speedway and wouldn't that make a sell out not even close
