How many of you have moved to a completely different area and had to change what game you chased?
I will probably never hunt deer unless I move somewhere where the waterfowl aren't as plentiful. Or bass fish when I can catch reds
Just curious

I fished more and hunted less in Louisiana, probably because I had my own pond and lived very close to some decent fishing lakes. Here, fishing is seasonal
Hunting here doesn't even resemble hunting down South. Goat hunting is by far my favorite for sport, while Moose is my favorite for food.

I grew up in Texas and spent summers in Amelia La. When in Texas I did a lot of fishing(fresh and salt), deer hunted, duck hunted and hunted all small game from birds to rabbits. In La I mainly fished. I moved to Arizona at 20 and dove and quail hunted with some fishing. At 24 I moved to Charlottee Nc. While in Charlotte I duck hunted a little( duck hunting was rough around Charlotte. I got real big into chasing large catfish on light tackle and did a lot of bass fishing. I hadn't deer hunted in about 10 but got big into after I took a buddy to Texas and he killed a 13 pointer of my parents farm. At 30 I moved to Baton and started Gator every year along with bass fishing lake rosemound. I also started hunting my familes ranch in South Texas next to the King Ranch. I spend all my money managing the place in South Texas cause I'm he only one who hunts is on a regular basis. Living this close to Texas allows me to get home and duck hunt and deer hunt once or twice a month. I would love to do more stuff in La but just don't know anyone to get Together with and show me the ropes. I love being in the outdoors but besides the gator hunting and fishing rosemound that's about all I do in La.

Growing up I was in a club in Ft. Adams where they had monsters. By the time I got old enough to hunt hard, we got out the club. Dues doubled, plus 4 OOS licenses got expensive.
Moved back to a club that is nothing but deep swamp hunting with way less deer and much smaller too.
Only fished off a pier at my families fishing camp (but we'd cstch hundreds of sacs a day) growing up and perch jerked local farm ponds. Pops can't fish (paralyzed) so we didn't do much more fishing. When I got to college I got a job, bought a boat, and learned the Spillway and a few other spots and how to bass fish.
Trying to learn to duck hunt to. Pops couldnt wing shoot either, so we never did that growing up. Waiting on invitations.

I've had real trouble finding any reds and specks out here in northern California. So I've had to learn to fish for salmon, striper, halibut. I've also switched to catching Dungeness instead of Blues. Overall my harvesting habit haven't changed....just the species I harvest.

If you ever feel like coming up to Cenla, I will be more than happy to bring you on a duck shoot.

I miss some of the sporting element of La. freshwater fishing a bit. But, when it comes to the food side nothing beats crab, halibut or fresh salmon.

Moved from Funroe to NOLA. Things are a bit different in species of ducks and the type of fishing and game down here.
I don't consider myself a good fisherman but learning where to go down here keeps me puzzled. So much water... and different techniques/bait for each.
Not to mention I can go crabbing frogging fishing for trouts/reds/cats/bass/gators and duck hunting all at the same place. It's awesome, but different
