Even if he starts hitting mid range shots he'll still be cheap. He'll be an MLE guy at best which is only a modest raise. Look at Ariza, he cashed in on a high profile hot streak where people thought he was a scoring defensive stopper and he still only got the MLE. And that was under the old CBA where people were more comfortable over paying mid level guys.
