Borderlands 2 Question

Finally got the game. I've played for about 2 hours and i have gotten to level 4. Is it an mmo like will i run into other players? Or am i only playing by myself right now? I'm playing on PC btw. Also, i know how to check my inventory out but how do i access like something besides guns and shields. I pick up health things that look like shots but idk how to use them. TIA

It doesn't pull players in and out of your game as you play, ala Guild Wars. You're playing by yourself unless you joined a multiplayer game.
There are various mods you can pick up other than shields and guns but there are people on this board who can give you more info about that.

you can set your game to public in network settings i believe. if people are on or near the quest youre on it usually puts people in

You pick up health only if you need it and you use it automatically. If your health is full you won't even pick it up.

Oh okay. So are there any like end game things to do? Any PvP or like dungeons i guess you could say?

You picked it up a few hours ago and you want end game info?
I've easily put 100+ hours into the game and I thought I was about done and a whole new area just opened up.
Quit worrying about end game and work the quests.

Oh im not the more i play the more i like it. I was just more so curious so i could put my talents in the right areas.

you can pay to reset your talents. so don't worry about messing up
