I was at that show at City Park. From what I recall, I thought he was better than the Allmans that night.
Absolutely! He killed it that night.

quote:

Was lucky to have caught a SRV concert - he played on the President, the old riverboat in NO. Was a triple bill with SRV, Dr John and BB King. Around 1986, as part of the NO Jazz Fest weeknight concert series.
There are some excerpts of that concert floating around the internet somwehere. I've seen a song or two from that show.

CSB.. I've played with Hubert Sumlin, r.i.p., Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, r.i.p., Willie King, r.i.p., and done several shows with Blind Mississippi Morris. Also played with Bob Margolin, the white dude playing guitar with Muddy on the Last Waltz video somebody posted. Met a lot of the older Mississippi guys. Here's one of my all time favorites: Otis Rush

I threw this in Kafka's soul thread, but I think it's more blues.
Bobby Bland Turn On Your Love Light.
Also,
Van Morrison and John lee Hooker Don't Look Back.Really depresses me for some reason.
