He very well may be, but I'll trust Frank Wilson on any kid from New Orleans.

Look in practices at Aday he looked plenty fast enough to me, got good seperation

I would be concerned if I were you about the secondary at Alabama if that be true. The guy got 0 separation in his HS highlights video and looked good ONLY because he could catch the ball well, was big, and could leap into the air on fade routes. I see that guy as a possession receiver and a fade route guy...he will NEVER start a game at Alabama at WR.

No, he doesn't. No way does that guy run a 4.5. You just took a recruiting site's time which are infamously exaggerated in favor of the players. He MIGHT run a 4.6 with the wind at his back!

Look at just any of this video...exactly like I said...a very tall guy who uses his body to catch a bunch of fade routes and jump balls. All the catches look the same. He is caught from behind or gained on in long passes he caught...and these are DBs who probably aren't even going to play college football. Once again, if Alabama likes him, God love him. He is 0 better than Chuck Baker and neither would EVER start a college game at LSU or Alabama. I do expect Alabama to use him near the goal line in jump ball passes.

Can you think of some examples where a S made a play that a)determined the outcome and b) could not have been made by someone else

I recall a blue chip safety named Reid who punked out a certain elite TE in mid air at the goal line to change the outcome of one huge high profile game a couple of years ago. There aren't many five starts who could recover from someone else's missed assignment to run down that play and fight for that ball in the air like that. That is game changing ability.

O linemen can have that kind of ability as well. Just ask DJ Fluker. He delivered elite level play nearly every snap and that, my friend, is game changing play if I ever heard of it.

Cam is more than worth fighting for. He is worth pulling out all of the stops for... especially against our biggest rival.

Dick, I used the same example in another response to him and obviously IMO a great example. Having said that, you remember a running back threw that pass right? No way is that not a TD anyway if a McCarron throws that pass. I do believe Eric Reid was guilty of "fair catch interference" because I'm sure I saw the TE waving his hand back and forth as the ball floated down.

That's a great example, though Mark Barron was a higher rated prospect than Reid (not as high as Collins) but still considered a better prospect which is more to my point. I think you could also argue that missed FG's and a block in the back on an int return by Barron also played a role in the outcome.

While everyone, including LSU's staff if they were drafting would have taken Collins over Thompson, Thompson is also a good prospect and in the end it is not a program changing loss that many of you are making it out to be. Recruiting is about who you get, not who you don't. As long as LSU continues to get top 5-10 classes, we can compete at a high level, even if we miss out on an elite in state player like Collins or Robinson. We will recuit adequate replacements, even if individually the replacements are not as good, they can still be good which is what is most important.

ETA: and how do we know that Collins could for sure make that or a similar play and Thompson or Martin could not?

I saw your reply after I posted mine. I had forgotten that the RB threw that ball though. After thinking about it, it did seem to float at the end just like my so called "deep" balls (40 yard bombs ;)) used to back in the day.

And if Reid was guilty of anything, it was raping a gump in his own back yard and turning the bama faithful into whiners for the next two months. They couldn't stop itching about that call no matter what the thread was about originally.

I miss that guy already. Hopefully Loston can hold the spot down for a full year.

Probably was Maize the WR/returner then. Anyway, the point was it was not the QB. On the recruiting comment, I quoted Gerry Dinardo yesterday on that point and it is a good one. With the 25 limit, your ONLY goal should be to use those spots wisely. Worrying about anyone who signs elsewhere is silly! Worry about the guys YOU sign! IMO, the reason the LSU OL has been suspect the last few years is that a lot of the recruiting ones played almost 0 downs at LSU.

Hagans, Parsons, Spencer, Shaw, J Jones, McCoy, Ainsworth, Lowe, and if you went back another year or so M Allen and Singleton. Not only does LSU need to recruit better OL overall but need to KEEP THEM!

Uh, how is a WR going to change the game in a heartbeat without the QB being able to get him the ball to begin with?

Your comment was a QB is the only position where they can change a game and I gave you other ones that can. A WR absolutely can change a game without the QB having to do much at all. A screen pass for example is a play that is all based on the WR's ability as is a lobb pass.
