Anyone have a hdhp plan on their own not thru an employer? Id be interested in seeing some rates to compare vs the employer sponsored plan. What can I expect to pay for a family plan hdhp?

$1000a month for insurance is ridicilous.

For and family? All depends on the deductible you have. Mine was a little over $1600 a month for the wife and I with a 1K deductible.

Now, just for the wife with a $3600 deductible, is $350 a month.

My company uses a HDHP but they contribute to an HSA to pay the deductible for you

Some HR guru figured this would save money in the long run probably

United Health is pretty competitive with HDHPs.

Check Blue cross. They were over $60 a month cheaper for same coverage for my wife.

BC/BS has the best PPO in the state. Not a knock against other carriers, but your doctor(s) might not always be in network with them. That matters much more than a few bucks a month premium savings.
