I imagine our goalkeeping will be the same. I think our defense will only be better. Have either Cherundolo or Chandler are RB and Fabian Johnson at LB. Besler should be the starter at LCB. Either Chandler, Bocanegra, or Gonzo at RCB. Jones/Chandler/Williams + Bradley at DM. Zusi/Shea/Johnson/GAM/Dempsey at LM. Zusi/Donovan/GAM at RM. Jozy/Dempsey/Boyd/GAM/Gomez up top. All of this isn't even taking the young guys or Holden into account.

It's so nice to see us able to truly attack and score within the flow of game... instead of really only being a threat to score on set pieces or an occasional long ball that gets through.

A longtime nemesis has been defending set pieces. If they continue to tighten up there, I certainly have reason to be optimistic about getting to and winning a match or two in the knockout stage.

Obviously, some luck in the draw would help tremendously. I can't see the US making it out of a "group of death" scenario.

Even in 2006 with the "group of death" we went into our last game just needing a win against Ghana to advance. And who knows what happens in that game if not for one of the worst pk calls of all time.

Also frick Ghana

It's impossible to tell without knowing who we'll play. I don't understand being this pessimistic about a hypothetical a year in advance.
