Geez, and then when LSU loses everyone here questions Mainieri. Seems like theres a lot of short term memory loss on this board.
I don't disagree...but most of the bitching on here, myself included, is just an emotional response to bad plays and outcomes.
Realistically though, Mainieri might really be the best active coach out there, especially if he wins another championship.

Their is no such thing as "best baseball coach in college", pro's, highschool or any level. Skip was a master motivator. Saben used some of his hype tapes before games. Baseball is the most unpredictable sport in the world, then add college kids to the mix, injuries, umps, wind, the sun, & so on & so on. So sit on your coach, drink your beer, & enjoy the show. Just remember there is always another game to be played & always next year. I really believe we win it all this year. Just remember if we don't it isn't because cpm isn't the best coach. It's because its the game of baseball.

He is top 5 for sure.
As far as fan base goes the only team even close is Ms State. They travel well and also pack their home stadium

I like him. He's not a great situational coach, but he develops players and is a fantastic recruiter. He's done a great job of recruiting kids that actually want to come to school, something Smoke never figured out.

Grownups should have better control of their emotions and more faith in those leading a very successful program or playing for it.
Bitching directed toward guys fighting for a #1 national seed only shows how short sighted and ungrateful some can be.

Just a shot in the dark- I would think their wife, kids, co-workers, & dogs dislike them as much as we do.

I think he's excellent at making adjustments between games. He has a keen ability to juggle the batting order and swap out players at key positions.
He's not all that great coaching from the bench as a game unfurls. Its not that he's horrible but he doesn't stand out either.

Horton, Casey, Pulminary are the top three now that Tanner is AD. There are a lot of really good coaches, but I think these are the top 3 as of now.

Agreed. He has a knack for making the right adjustments from time to time as the season unfolds. In game, he's good but others are better.
That said, we are lucky to have him and should all enjoy the ride while it lasts. All things considered, he's one of the best and winning another CWS puts him at #1 in my book with Tanner being out.

This is just me, but I'm thinking a 3 time national coach of the yr in like the last decade stands out pretty damn good to anyone with open eyes.

quote:That's the one big knock on PM. Yall see how much the pitching has improved since he went out and hired a top notch pitching coach. It would be the same story with the hitting, but I guess god son's are thicker than water, huh?
I wish someone would offer Javi a job
BTW, that cat looks like Toonces from SNL.
