Denver Broncos showing interest in Charles Woodson...

ESPN’s Josina Anderson is reporting that the Denver Broncos will visit with the safety this week.

The interest makes sense. The Broncos could use help at safety, and Woodson would provide strong leadership. The future hall of famer is 36. Denver coach John Fox has long valued veterans. I wouldn’t be shocked if an accord is reached between Denver and Woodson.
Not the best free agent still out there, but he obviously still has his strengths with a defense. I'm sure Jack Del-Rio and John Fox could find him a role somewhere in quite possibly the league's best secondary. He would just have to battle and beat out a bunch of guys for a position at cornerback (Champ Bailey, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Chris Harris, Tony Carter, and Kayvon Webster), so I see his role as more of a safety (Mike Brown, Rahim Moore, and Quinton Carter).

Please put that liability on the field.

quote:Not sure why you are considering him a liability. He still has some game left in him. Just 2 years ago, he registered 74 tackles, 2 sacks, and 7 interceptions.
Please put that liability on the field.
He could find a place on the defense in the nickel or at safety. And with the pass rush we usually develop, he could make some plays just like everyone else did last year.

And Brian Urlacher
quote:I wouldn't want him, but I'm all for taking Charles Woodson.
Meanwhile, a Denver source said the Broncos are not interested in former Chicago middle linebacker Brian Urlacher at this time. There was a report out of Chicago on Tuesday that said the Broncos were talking to Urlacher.

does the altitude affect older players more than younger guys?...

2 years ago is a long time when you're 36

Regarding Rahim Moore: We all know about Rahim Moore's derp against the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs... He gave up the win, there's no doubt. However, up until that point, he had played very well during the season. The coaching staff wants to see how he recovers in 2013.
Regarding Quinton Carter: This guy had an awesome rookie season. He then followed that up by being out all of the 2012 season, and now he faces potential prison time from a felony cheating charge during a craps game in Las Vegas.
Regarding Mike Adams: He's nothing special, a serviceable player, IYAM. He's also aging and there are probably better options out there. He played pretty well last season, but we don't know how much he has left in the tank at this point in his career.
Take away those guys, and you have Blake Gideon and David Bruton...

I hadn't noticed this story running across ESPN, so I figured I'd research a little more after not hearing anything lately on the subject.

LAS VEGAS -- Court officials say charges have been dropped in a felony case alleging that Denver Broncos safety Quinton Carter added $5 to craps bets after the dice were thrown.
Carter didn't appear Monday in North Las Vegas Justice Court while defense lawyer Andrew Leavitt arranged to have the third-year NFL player forfeit $1,000 in bail money as part of the agreement.
Leavitt says the 24-year-old Carter was never officially charged, and a court clerk confirms the case was dismissed with no felony or misdemeanor conviction.
Carter was arrested late March 9 at the Texas Station casino in North Las Vegas.
Security officers alleged he was videotaped adding $5 chips to three bets.
Leavitt says the video only shows Carter was confused, not that he intentionally increased his bets.

I listened to Denver sports talk radio with Dave Logan, the Bronco's PBP person and a long time follower of the Colorado sports beat driving home from work.
Nary a peep. Sounds like someone might be floating a trial balloon.
