I'm not sure about the truth of this rumor, but I heard a while back that Craig Robinson (black dude from the Office, Pineapple Express, Miss March, Hot Tub Time Machine and of course he was Reg Mackworthy in Eastbound) was labeled a "Sellout" because he's been doing mostly these white comedic projects with the Apatow Mafia etc. Anyway, he addressed this "sellout" thing in a magazine or some obscure radio interview saying that the reason he doesn't do Tyler Perry movies is because they're incredibly corny and go for cheep racial laughs like "White people can't dance etc." appealing to an almost dominant, outright AA audience. (although most of his characters in the Apatow movies and shows are him playing off of cheap stereotypical laughs but more for white people I guess)

So basically I heard he was coerced into this role by Tyler Perry. Perry just attached his name to this project as a producer, and somehow convinced the writer/director Tina Gordon Chism to allow Craig Robinson major input on his character and some of the writing within the movie, like a lot of ad-lib shite. Basically giving him more say over this character than he's ever had in any movie or TV show. I'm sure this had something to do with why Chism is now directing her first movie as well. And so far, the reviews have been bad from the black audience saying Robinson is ridiculous and this movie has zero laughs. It almost feels like Tyler Perry just did Robinson like Wayne Brady did jokingly on the Chappelle show. He's like "Oh, I'm corny, mother fricker?" Then gave him enough rope to umm nm I guess to forge a bad performance would be a better analogy.

tl:dr CSB. But I could totally see this happening. Also heard that Robinson was very cold towards Tyler Perry when he did "Daddy's Little Girls" in 2007 Saying negative shite about how TP does business. Now he's the star of a movie where TP is lending his name as a producer credit.
