Karr vs. St. Aug in the 4A 4x100 will be fun. And Guice, Palelei and Quinn head-to-head in the 5A 100 will be fun.

My brother is the head coach of the Byrd Track n Field team in Shreveport. They'll have a good team.

What's up with Jeryl Brazil? His times are looking slow.

He's been coasting in every meet. Expect him to put on a show and possibly break some records in this meet

Like every other elite athlete, they don't give their all when they don't have to. I imagine his time will awe-inducing at the State meet.

You can just say "brother is head coach of the Byrd track team" and we get it

I hope so, especially after the way he ran at last year's state meet. But his 200 time is really slow and he only came in 3rd at the regional meet. Very uncharacteristic of him.

It's common in track to train to "peak" at certain meets. I'd expect Jeryl to "start" to peak for this meet, but I think somebody has mentioned he has an eye on upcoming national meets too.

I've always found the training methods interesting in track. It's a given that athletes can't give their "best" performances week-in, week-out and these days, they train for specific meets and if they compete in between, their times/jumps, etc., will be off peak.

There's a lesson to be learned there in football. That's why football teams play the Sun Belts and FCS teams. Athletes can't give you optimal performances every week. It's about getting them to peak for certain dates.

Totally agree with Coursey on this one. With track, it is all about when you peak. It is very difficult to run your PR week in and week out. I suspect that Mr. Brazil will turn it up a notch this weekend, as he is still the fastest man in the state until someone else proves otherwise. Outdoor track has more variables too, as the weather and surface are factors. It will be great having so much talent on one track!

While most won't admit it, every elite player and talent does it.

I do think he'll (and everyone else) peak running a PR or close to it.

Usain Bolt gets 3rd/4th in some qualifying meets and embarrasses people in the real races.

Brazil will embarrass people in the state finals IMO and put up competing numbers in nationals.

Yeah, she's been on the show. They've mentioned her being on the track team. I thought she was a distance runner. Doesn't look big enough to throw the javelin.
