Lorenzo Carter 6'5" 232 Norcross, GA

In a premium article on 247's Alabama site (BOL), he answered their writer's question about what he thought about Nick Saban's 14 first round draft picks with a typical "That's Amazing/Crazy/Unreal and they have a great program" answer. (Can't be specific because of the premium verbatim rules)

Then he followed that up with an unsolicited (paraphrasing):
I’m most impressed with the early DE selections of Mingo & the names of the ends that went #3 & #5.

Hope Les has either Chief or Brick Haley at his high school tomorrow talking about Keke and the other five LSU defenders (Reid, Minter, Logan, Mathieu, Montgomery) that went in three!

@ESPNStatsInfo LSU had 6 defensive players drafted, the most by any school in the 1st 3 rounds in a single draft.
Who wouldn't want to play for that defense?!

Yep, it is all about the different defensive philosophies between Bama's 3-4 scheme and LSU's 4-3. LSU allows our D-Linemen the freedom to make plays (and develop as a playmaker). Bama's D-Linemen are pretty much there to occupy opposing O-Linemen so their linebackers can get to the football.

It is obviously a very effective scheme, as Bama has had superb defenses under Saban. But it isn't the best scheme for a singular stud D-Lineman to shine and develop.

And that is the message that LSU coaches should always stress when recruiting a D-Lineman that Bama is also hot after. Bama's scheme is set up to allow linebackers to shine - but at the expense of D-Linemen.

Would LOVE to land this kid. Seen him play a lot. A buddy of mine is the Norcross Baseball HC. I'm afraid Carter is bama. Really good friends with bama signee, RB Alvin Kamara. But, long way to NSD.

wow, if we offer him, I'll be ecstatic! Watched his tape and he is fast and physical off the line. He will have to bulk up considerably to play DE at Bama unless they are switching him to OLB.

that's what I love to hear. With our DE situation he has the opportunity to compete for the starting role
