I <3 F

The company posted respectable earnings this AM, and beat analyst expectations. However, the stock is down/flat on the day. Why would this be? Was the market expecting Ford to beat before the earnings were posted?

Ford's Europe plans

But back to the original question. Any opinions on why F would have a down day?

I'd have to double check but I don't think they hit their EPS q1 forecast

They beat analyst expectations. That's what throws me off. Granted, your right; they do have problems with Europe and they're also losing money in South America. The losses were less severe thann analyst expectations though. I'm thinking the international exposure in general is looked upon negatively at this point in time, regardless of the Asian growth prospects.

The market is a strange beast.

Forward guidance might be it.

Their balance sheet is still weak with a good bit of debt. Sometimes earnings won't drive up the price.

I still think it will be hard to move its stock price considerably in the near future due to the 3.9 bil shares outstanding. This is just MO.
