re: Would you trade the 1st or 2nd pick....for DeMarcus Cousins?

He actually scaled back his shooting this season and posted his best FG% of his career. Also improved his FT%.
I dont think he is even on the block, but maybe our 1st and Lopez would interest them, depending on how much they want to get rid of Cousins or how much they like a particular player in the draft.

In a heartbeat.
This draft doesn't have a player of Cousins's caliber, and he compliments Davis's game perfectly.
We would have to hope that a change of scenery changes his attitude, but is that any more of a risk than hoping Noel develops a post game?

Intriguing idea, now that I think about it. In terms of ability, it's certainly no more of a risk than the draft.

I think the CP3 returning to NOLA talk is mostly silliness, but Cousins coming here would have to catch his attention. The hypothetical Lopez + 1st or 2nd would save us $5-$6m as well, so we should have enough to offer him the supermax.
But I do think it would take either the first or second to get it done. I don't think that there's any way the 5th gets it done.

It's a lock.

Not to mention we will be trading EG for Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes.

Cousins seems to be somewhat frustrated by the Kings and the constant uncertainty surrounding the franchise
Another interesting twist to the situation is Eric Bledsoe. As our good friend Mikey McNamara has been saying, NOLA could be a landing spot for Bledsoe. Cousins and Bledsoe have been boys since their younger Birmingham days. And boys in college. And boys in the pros. Could be a perfect teammate to team up with Cousins to possibly tame his temper. Throwing in another UK boy in Davis can't hurt, either.
Doubts we have the pieces to land both, but a
PG Bledsoe
SG Gordon (trade piece?)
SF FA
PF Davis
C Cousins
would be nice. If Gordon was in the deal, we would have to get more players to match salaries. Could help fill out the bench. Who knows? Not much going on this time of year for Pels fans, let's speculate over building our championship squad
quote:
‘It’s a tough matter to deal with every year,’ said third-year center DeMarcus Cousins. ‘It’s an annoying situation. You can’t really plan. Most players have an offseason and they can enjoy it and plan it, but for us it’s a different situation. We’ve always got to be on-call. We never know what’s going to happen.’
quote:
‘We should have a lot more information than we do,’ Cousins said. ‘You feel dumb when a fan comes up and asks you because they believe you know, and your response is, ‘I know as much as you do.’ It’s not a good feeling.’
quote:
‘At the end of the day, you still have to go out there and play every game like it’s your last.’ That’s not easy. ‘It does bother your focus,’ Cousins said. [...] Life for the players will be easier once a sale is approved, but Cousins might have best summed up the sentiment of his teammates. ‘You’ll have more of a comfort level, but honestly, I’m tired of it,’ he said. ‘I’m tired of it.’”

I like where you're heads at...that would be an ideal offseason.
...I like both of those guys, so I'd take just one too
3 starters from UK would be cool.

Would hope that if we DID land Cousins, we'd make use of the still ample cap space and go over the cap in 2014/15 when we extend Cousins.

I doubt new Kings/Sonics ownership dumps Cousins, but like you say
LINK
Bledsoe/Rivers
Gordon/
????/Miller/Salmons
Davis/Smith
Cousins/Hayes
Your boy McNamara also mentioned in an article a few weeks back that Boston wants to get Austin for a father/son deal. No idea where he got that info, but let's run with it.
Say they do Anderson/Lopez for Cousins/Hayes/Salmons.
Then they deal Rivers, Vasquez and the 1st for Rondo and Boston's 1st.
Rondo/Roberts
Gordon/
????/Miller/Salmons
Davis/Smith
Cousins/Hayes

Cousins attitude is greatly exaggerated. he came to UK with all those questions and turned out to be one of the most beloved players to play for UK in a long time.

Im thinking sac will want salmons bad contract off the team so I would be down for a gordon/shabazz for salmons cousins trade... I think this is the only way we land cousins. Idk if it is worth it if he leaves after his contract up tho... nab bledsoe in free agency?
Posted on 4/22/13 at 9:37 pm to MrBlue105
Well Cousins would go through restricted free agency. If it worked out I could see the pelicans offering a max contract and him staying. This is all hypothetical; however, a Davis, Anderson, and Cousins rotation would be sick.

I'm thinking that lineup is a little better than the one we had this season . . .
