I think there was nothing wrong with what the reported asked. And it is refreshing to see a reporter stand up to the a-hole, holier than thou responses and barbs directed back at them by these coaches. All Jim had to say was "I am not discussing that right now." Everything after Jim's first response, he brought on himself.

A real journalist wouldn't stoop down to that level

You ask the question and if you don't like the response, fricking deal with it. You get paid to ask questions, not respond to a coach like a whiny bitch

So "real" Journalists don't ask coaches about their future plans? Doyle is a troll, but that question wasn't out of line at all. When it occurred during the PC is irrelevant.

It was the first question and not only was he totally out of line with how follow up response but he continues to engage with Boeheim in an unethical manner

What was unethical about it?

Neither handled the situation professionally IMO.

First of all, I realize sports journalism is in the toilet, but it's still SPORTS journalism

It has never been taken seriously
