Tonight we had roast beef au jus and sauteed mushrooms! These are both rediculously simple recipes.

First, the Roast beef ingredients. A can of beef consomme, a can of french onion soup, a can of guiness, a dash of worchestire sauce, a tsp of garlic powder, a tsp of onion powder.

Just dump them all in the crockpot and set it for 8 hours on low.

Leave the roast alone for 7 hours then remove it and slice it and place it back in the au jus. Then, prep the buns. Butter on one side, provolone on the other.

Then we prep for the shrooms. 1lb of quartered white shrooms. 1/4 cup white wine, a dab of butter, 1/4 cup of the au jus, 1/4 tsp garlic, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp cayenne. (the au jus can be replaced w/ 3 tbsp of worsteshire if you want).

Melt the butter, then throw all of the ingredients except the wine. Sautee for about 5 minutes on med high heat. When things start getting dry/sticky, deglaze with the wine and simmer on low for 15 minutes. Pop the buns in the oven to broil.

Didnt get a good pic of the finished product. This is the best i could do and it was a kiddie plate .The au jus was delicious! The fries were for the kiddies.

The juice was in ramekins at the plateside next to the mushrooms. After all the damn trouble taking pictures of every step, i forgot to take a pic of the plated meal. The pic here is of a kiddie plate. It really did kind of dampen my mood to not get a good pic.

Eta. The adult sandwiches had a lot more meat too :)

I would destroy regardless.

Plus you could just sop out of pan.

I was actually wondering about some Arby's sauce. What else would y'all put on it?

Rump roast. They slice very well. I have done it with chuck and it comes out a little tastier but it doesn't slice well. It needs to be a sloppy open faced sandwich.

Skip the horse radish crap. Add a little French onion dip on the buttered toasted bread. $$$$

ETA: looks amazing. I will be making this tomorrow.

Looks great! I love a good french dip.

How big was the roast you put in the crock pot? It doesn't say.

It was a 3lb rump. It barely fed 4 adults and two kids. The recipe given really needs a 4-5lb roast. 3lb is what I had because we usually just cook for the two of us and that is plenty for a meal and leftovers for lunch the next day.
