All you guys planning to hole up by yourself on your rural property had better heed this. Even if you're Rambo, you have to sleep sometime.

Step 1 is to get out of whatever city you are in. Alone, with others, whatever. Get out of a population center using your EMP-immune vehicle. Assume your house will be a total loss so take the things that will be valuable to you.

This is one think I don't quite understand is why modern cars wouldn't survive an EMP blast.

A car will survive a direct lighting bolt and the protection from EMP is creating a faraday cage around the components. A car is its own faraday cage.

Don't be such an a-hole....making us have to think.

An EMP ruined the cars in the Jericho TV series. Isn't that enough for you?

I read once that EMP would destroy electronics in modern vehicles, however I will admit to not being an expert.

My understanding is it's very unpredictable what will fry and what will live. However, if your battery is disconnected and all you circuits discharged, you are probably fine.
