If he was pre med or pre dental I would say a C is worse than a W but a B is better than a W.. but since he is just a business guy who the frick cares. If he dropped because he has a B he is a dumb arse

All A's points to an academician .. which generally means not a good employee.
His point is he SHOULD have a made an 'A' because it was a class where he could make an 'A.'

UGA actively manages numbers for Terry and several times in the last decade has tightened down the requirements of certain programs due to the number of students seeking acceptance. There's no myth there, started in the spring of 2002 and has ebbed and flowed with applicant numbers ever since.

Blah blah blah, have a 3.0 and do whatever you want. Which shouldn't be difficult for someone that can get into UGA.

Withdrawn are not a big deal as long as you don't have more than 2 possibly 3 with good reason.
If he feels confident he can redo it for an A and it isn't going to affect his class scheduling he should.

They generally care a great deal more about test scores (GRE/GMAT) than GPA. GPA can matter but a fraction of a point from a B is nothing compared with a good test score.

There is no reason to retake a class over a B. Is it worth it? Probably not.
Maybe he just isn't that good at writing? People think of comm courses as easy but they aren't if you are not a good writer.

I've only had one company pull my transcript over the years.....and that's how they figured out I lied about my gpa on my resume

I wouldn't have felt comfortable at all applying to accounting or MIST (man has that changed) in the fall of '03 with a 3.0. Or real estate in '06. Or finance at just about any point.
Not sure what the OP's son is interested in or what the requirement/number of applicant ratio is today though.

Cost aside, is it worth withdrawing from a Communications class (W on transcript) in order to come back later for the 'A'?

That's why I made one B in my last semester. 3.98 > 4.0 amirite?
But seriously, don't withdraw over a B. If that B is going to make that much of a difference, he's got other issues to worry about.

Agreed. #2 son applied to Terry in '06 (International Business).
Realistically, I think you should want 1/2 A's and 1/2 B's (3.5) to be safe. #4 son (this one) will also be applying for an International Biz type thing-concentration.

I can't think of any jobs that would come down to a grade in a Communications class.

Honestly, the only time my grades mattered were for my grad school application. I've never had an employer ask me for a transcript, all the way from a 3 person firm to one of the biggest IT service companies in the world.
I'd bet the FBI pulled it when I applied for a clearance, but they care about whether you lied, not about whether the number is any good.
