Anyone know where the disconnect is? Under the fender? Or will I need to remove the gas tank too?

I don't think it has a dedicated cutoff; you have to unhook the battery. To do that you gotta pull the seat.

If you don't want anything to start running while you're repairing, do this.

What exactly are you fixing/modding?

Lost the damn key and I've got to take the ignition switch up there to get another one made.

Couldn't you...

A: Take the whole bike up there?

or...

2: Just replace the ignition?

I could but I don't really have time to take it up there. I am replacing the brakes and fixing one of the wheels, so I don't want to put all of that back together and take it up there.

There has to be a way to make it work. Couldn't you just jump/ground out the ignition for free?

It's a 99 Fourtrax, not like we're doing rocket science here

Nah, a buddy of mine bought a new one a year or two ago and he gave this one to me to fix up for my son. It's been sitting up for a while and he lost the key.

Just don't cut the red one

Stuff like that is normally pretty simple. I am guessing you could just bypass the ignition and put a regular toggle switch

Follow wires from the key switch to the plug and then jump the red to the brown wire.

Ride out
