Chicot Lake this weekend, anybody going?

thinking about a quick trip sunday. I've never fished chicot, just checking it out since it's not too far from Lafayette. pointers?

This is only my second trip, and we only fished yoyo's at night. I'm going to get there a little earlier this time and do a little riding around.

We launched at the north end of the lake last time and only went a couple hundred yards to the right and started tying them in the trees. We caught about a dozen decent sacs in just a few hours.

This time we're staying all night and gonna put out more yoyo's so hopefully we do a little better.

That's right before the spillway. There's a channel that runs along that tree line. Here's a picture of it when the water was drawn down.

Geauxtiga, that's exactly where we started putting them out was at that point on the right side of your first pic.

From your knowledge, is that a good spot or should we try a different place? It all looked pretty much the same to me, and I liked the short boat ride in the dark.

It's a pretty good spot. You have the best of all worlds, as you can see. There's shallower water with channels. White perch use channels.

I've never set yo-yo's this late, at Chicot, so I'm not sure where to suggest you set but they may be moving into shallower water. There, you have a shot either way.

I've fished both North and South and have done well.

Continuing on into the main channel past the spillway, I've caught there too. The channel is deep but also shallow as it moves toward the bank.
