Just to clarify, from what you remember Demps never got as specific as saying Point Guard rather than Guard or talking about Vasquez getting minutes at SF if they brought another guard in?

he has in LA the exact same thing he had here with Chandler and West....nothing more and nothing less. I could see them in a good year getting to the WCF, but don't see them getting to the Finals. I think in their best season, they'll be a #2 seed but get bounced in the second round.

I fully agree with you but in the eyes of the media and probably of him and his teammates they are a contender.

He's the defacto GM in LA so it would be tough to leave. I also think that a move like replacing Del Negro with Jerry Sloan could keep him in town even if the Clippers get embarrassed out of the playoffs, which I think they will. I was sad when the Bobcats hired some unknown instead of Sloan.

I think the Clippers are way better than the Hornets were in the CP years. They have the best bench in the league. I also think the Clips represent the West in the Finals though

to finish off the topics discussed in the chalk talk:

1. alot of complaints about AR's play, Demps said he is young and needs time to get used to the league and speed of the game.

2. some guy in a Kansas jersey complained about Monty not playing Henry enough and giving him a chance to develop.

3. when the Honets build the new facility next to the Saints' facility it'll be the largest in the NBA, Demps designed it, and he thinks it'll be critical in luring FAs here. Said it'll be a little bigger than Dallas' OKC's, and Cleveland's.

4. extensive discussion on EG. said at the time he was playing about 80%. the doctors instructions were that he not play back to backs.....they don't want to take a chance with him reinjuring himself in a non playoff season. Demps says it takes a full season to get back into game shape and EG isn't full speed yet. He said having him run on treadmills underwater and the other treatments they are doing doesn't recreate gamespeed and EG's lack of being in gameshape is why he'll have a strong first half but trail off down the stretch in Q3 and Q4 and can't close out games right now. Said he hopes working with EG this summer, they can have him ready to go next year.

In today's In The No podcast

Listened to my first podcast of their's this morning and I enjoyed it. I think they made a good point about Vasquez: he has a ton of assists, but he's not really making the players around him better. I also agreed with them that, although they both have very really good contracts, Lopez and Vasquez may be more important to upgrade than Aminu.

that is outstanding. really will help in attracting FAs imo

I have been praying this was the case. to have him say that gives me hope

I remember him saying they felt like this team has alot of flexibility and alot of the players can play multiple positions. I don't remember all the exact wording around it, but my thoughts were that AR and GV can play 1 or 2, EG is a 2 but could play the 1, RA can play 3, 4, or 5 (in relief of other in foul trouble, and AD & Smiht can play 4 or 5.

more of my conjecture: I was thinking he meant more let's see what available in FA, see if GV continues to improve the rest of this year at PG, see what AR does the rest of the year, and then decide what direction to go in. I think they also want to see what EG does at the 2; if he gets stronger and stronger as the season goes on, he gets in better shape, and can close out games, we'd focus on a PG. If he is weaker (or he is unhappy and they are looking to trade him), maybe we go for a SG in FA and keep developing GV & AR along to try to be in that role. But what we target in FA would depend on what we would get in a trade. Note Dell bever mentioned trading EG, and that is just my conjecture. He talked as if EG would be here long term.

Demps is a fortune teller, as this chalk talk was before the Dallas, Orlando, and LAL meltdowns.

The chalk talk was the weekend after the story broke about ticket prices going lower, so there were several questions about that. Demps kept saying he didn't know about it, wasn't involved in the decision, and it was a business not bball decision so he couldn't address it. The guy in the Kansas jersey said some tickets were being lower 80%. the other crowd members called him out on it, saying 80% of the seats would be reduced. Then the Kansas jersey guy insisted he was right and there was alot of bickering back and forth between the crowd about it. Demps kept saying he couldn't address it, but people kept asking him questions about it. I wanted to shoot myself at various points when that was going on as it was a waste of time.

Speaking of the practice facility, I haven't been in that area in a long time. Have they started to build it?
