I'm about to buy 2 of one of these reels. I can't make up my mind, i've heard great things about the revo and have not used the new chronarch yet. I own nothing but the curado 200e7s (green ones) and dhsv. Anybody got any opinions? i'm leaning Abu right now.

That Chronarch will pretty much beat the Revo every day and twice on Sunday in a head to head competition. Chronarch is like Cadillac and Revo is like nice Chevy.

Chronarch would be my choice, but I'm a Shimano fan. The STX's are pretty sweet though.

I was an ALL SHIMANO kind of guy before I got my Revo. Love it. I've caught some steelies, striper and lingcod on it that all ripped out drag for days. It's really a great reel.

That being said - get one of each.

Chronarch is deff the better reel, and I'm a huge Abu Garcia fan so that's saying something.

I bought a Revo for my Son for Christmas. He loves it. I've tried it out for a few casts and it is really nice. It is almost impossible to get a backlash in it.

I'm an all shimano guy myself, I hear the AGR has a better drag system and can be fine tuned better, some friends have told me they feel like the new chronarch is identical to the curado (which it basically is, they didn't change much), if that's the case I might be willing to try something new, a couple friends who are hardcore bass fisherman have told me they aren't going back to shimano after using the revo

I have the Chronarch and really like the handle grips vs. the Revo. Do all Revos have the foam-type grips? That said, have heard a lot of good things on the Revo just never put them head to head. Prob can't go wrong

Edit: after consulting my handy cabelas catalog, looks like not all Revo's have those foam grips, some are rubber apparently

Shimano by a long shot

Abu was the shite back when round reels were as good as you could get. Since I had plenty ambassadors, a revo seemed like a good upgrade.

By shimano loving brother laughs at me regularly for that decision.

Revo. The drag on the Revos is awesome and the new chronarch is just a repackaged old curado. If you were saying SX vs Chronarch, then Chronarch, but the STX is the best reel at its price point.

And, to boot, this place is selling them for $154

REVO STX

gonna get them from cabelas since i have some gift cards to use, the revo stx has a $25 rebate going right now too...

held the stx yesterday, that thing is light, being a shimano guy the chronarch is hard to pass on, both are $200, guess i'm gonna actually have to fish with both to decide

i ended up buying one of each, this revo stx is flat out awesome, i like the magnets on the side...it's lighter than the chronarch too, i might have a new favorite
