Do any of yall use a brew sculpture when you do all-grain brews? For those that don't know, a brew sculpture is simply a 3 tiered stand for holding your sparge tank, mash tun, and brewpot.

Similar to these:

My brother is pretty handy and has his own welding rig at his house. He doesn't brew, but he likes the fact that you can build anything you need. I'm looking for some design plans for some right now. I'd like to have one where i the top stand can tilt, to get the remaining sparge water out.

iirc, the dude who brewed the Abita Oyster Stout has one. Seemed to have more pros than cons.

no, but you looked like you could use something like that with your brick setup you had going on. Seems like a PITA to get everything going.

If I had extra room for one, I might consider it. But I really don't need one.

Mash
Hot Liquor Kettles. One has Mash water and other has Sparge water.

Water down into Mash tun on floor.

Lift Mash Tun up onto a little stool

Boil Kettle on top of Hot, yes I said hot.... water heater stand I bought at home depot. The plywood and white cabinet are blocking the wind that was gusting 30-40 mph that day....as it often is around here.

I think i really only need a 2 tier system.

One for sparge, one for mash, and keep the brewpot on the ground. I need to measure my pots.

I own a 4plex apt building and have my office/ brewery/ wood shop in one of the units. But yes the floor is filthy and coated with about 1/4" of dried wort. I may pitch yeast onto the floor one day.

That is pretty cool. I want to avoid pumping though. The less shite i have to clean up after brew day, the better.

However, i am looking into plate chillers now.

When the wife ain't looking I plan on buying one of the Blichmann top tier systems. Primarily because I hate building things myself and other brewers I know with sculptures have problems with everything from burner outputs to balancing the damn things.

For now I use a step ladder and a table. Works just fine.

Those things are ridiculously expensive.

ETA: well, they aren't as bad as i thought, actually.

I feel a lot better now.

I've been around a sculpture before and they're ridiculously awesome but hell I couldn't afford a freaking pump on one of those things much less all the stainless.

Speaking of pumps/plate chillers/anything else extra.... pass for now until I get quite a few brews under my belt on what I've got now.

Nice to dream though!!
