It's one thing if he didn't take risks during a game, or played with caution because he didn't think he needed to and he wanted to protect himself.

It's a different ballpark for him to say that he didn't even prepare for games like he should have.

I can't believe people are try to justify it.

You guys act like no one tries hard during easy games. That's ridiculous.

I don't hate the guy but stop acting like this isn't even concerning.

I see way more dedication and effort from the players down on the field than from the empty seats on the third quarter.

The fans don't play the genius. Are you this freaking dense? Why do you want to deflect so badly?

I also understand a little about human nature and I try to remember that the players are human and young ones at that.

Give your effort, then let the younger guys come in and play. That's how the lesser games should be played.

I especially try to not take a little thing like this and magnify it into some dark element infecting the LSU program.

Ahh...now the reason for your deflection comes out.

It doesn't reflect on the program, unless it continues to happen. You saw WAY more effort in 2011.

No one disputes that players take off from time to time, but if you can't see the difference between last year and this year (effort) then you are worthless to discuss this with.

Admitting it publicly makes him more than suspect. It will come out in his interviews, but don't take it to the public. Everyone knew Sam and several others didn't really "show up" in some games. Discuss it in your personnel interviews, not publicly.

Certain posters of this site will defend anything any player at LSU does.
We all learned that during shady gate.

Normally they will shite all over any player to protect the coach. Only time they will defend a player is if it has some connection to the HC.

And there are certain posters that want to call a talent like Montgomery a waste of a scholarship bc he didn't give his all against Idaho.

Montgomery had a great career, just didn't have his heart in his final season outside 2-3 games.

Besides watch us play second fiddle to NS and alabama... Bc I gurantee you that's not accepted there, regardless which player it is.

I can't believe you people keep saying this. It really makes me question not only your intelligence but your sanity.

I can't believe you think otherwise.

Have you lived under a rock or cave since 2000?
Tell you what, find a player that played under him LSU or Bama and ask them...see what they tell you.

There is a reason nick Saban is the winner he is.
He demands it from everyone involved,,, coaches, staff and mostly his players.

Even the most casual LSU and Alabama fans would know this.

ARe we talking about thensame nick Saban that made a NFL linemen cry?

Some of you people take defending les miles and lsu players to a new level.

Indontnthink for a second that taking plays or games off is something that even remotely accepted at Alabama by NS.

Its not accepted anywhere, but it happens everywhere. At every level. In every sport.

How childish are you people being?

It doesn't happen under saban, give me a fricking break.

I guess uab was just a better team than LSU. I guess Ulm was a better team than bama. Did you see bama almost lose to Georgia Southern? Yeah, bama was obviously up for that game. I guess Utah was actually the better team, right?

Grow Up.

Again, why do professional athletes typically perform better during contract years. Obviously they aren't giving 100% the rest of the time. Do you think in basketball or baseball players go all out every game?

Why not outrage there? Why not outrage for when Saban's teams don't show up?

How many games has LSU lost by Sam "taking games off"? I could see the Clemson games being the only one. And who really cares about that game, other than the fans that likely take each game more importantly than 99% of the players they are rooting for.

Doesn't sound like the same guy who used to run to class wearing his helmet and pads.

Still love him, but disappointing.

Who cares?

This happens in every program, every year. Once guys realize they are potentially set to make millions in the NFL, they tend to make sure they remain in one piece so they can sign the contract. Of course, the average Rantard would understand this, I'm sure.

I don't blame Big Sam. Remember, he already suffered one potential career-damaging injury in 2010. The fact that he came back for 2012 should make everyone happy.

For the morons that say this doesn't happen under Saban - You are just that. A moron.
