Have you ever had a BLW sandwich? Would you eat it?

A New food truck in town has been serving these things up in front of Le Bon Temps lately. I did a google search and this BLW seem to be more common than I thought. Thinking about trying one this weekend.

i'd definitely try it. could be very good, especially if the watermelon is grilled.

I'd eat it. Seems like you would need some stout bread to hold up to all the water though..

I'd eat it. In fact, I may have to make one the next time a get a melon.

Not much different than a sweet tomato, IMO.

But I agree with the poster above who said it would need the right kind of bread to keep if from getting soggy.

I've had a pork belly and watermelon salad before and it was delicious, so the flavors should work

Seems like it would have a similar water content as the tomato it replaces.

Drain it and put the lettuce on the bottom as they did. I eat tomato sandwiches all summer. They are a little watery, but so good. I make grilled caprese sandwiches also.

I love watermelon salads and watermelon gazpacho with jalapeno. Goes so well with spicy and with onions. I like a nice balsamic dressing on the salad or sometimes just balsamic cream.

Was that Skillet? If so, that is a few buddies of mine who are just getting rolling.

Yes, I've had the Indian Chicken. It's tasty, I told them they had room to up the heat some or at least allow for customers to add heat once plated.

They have the usual, pulled pork etc. I'm sure they are good.

I know they're working on a fish sandy/taco for lent. Haven't tried yet, but interested.

After many beers last night I got my hands on one of these sandwiches from the skillet truck. It really tasted no different than a BLT. Some bites you could tell the sweetness of the melon but overall it had a BLT taste. The bread IMO was the highlight of the sandwich. They use ciabatta bread from La Boulangerie. The melon was thin enough and wasn't an issue for the bread to handle. Tasty but next time I'm gonna try something different.

Another variation: BLT + smoked salmon. Highly recommended
