Eric Spoelstra who many joke is a "turrible coach" has yet to have a losing season in the NBA:

5 Years... 230-132, never missed the playoffs, and one NBA title

That's not even a good stab at irony or facetiousness.

Here's the deal with Monty:

He IS a good coach. The guy knows how to talk to players, how to reach them. Players really like and respect him. He knows Defensive Philosophy pretty well and has learned from some great ones.

But he is also STILL, definitely green. He still has a lot to learn. His teams play poorly in the 3rd Quarter consistently, and his rotations are bizarre at best.

The man has been given a bit of shite hand since being here. He had to deal with malcontent stars with one foot out the door, a strike followed by a complete dumpster fire of a roster, and now a total rebuilding year with the task of bringing a 19 year old #1 pick and molding him for the future.

For me, he's definitely been a mixed bag with more good than bad. He gets another year, obviously. I like Monty a lot, but he has to show some improvement next year. This team needs to be more competitive, and it needs to be at least in the running for the 8th seed (9, 10, 11 seed at the end of the year) next year.

That's like when you are stuck somewhere that only has that one-ply garbage "toilet tissue" and it breaks mid wipe, right?

But seriously, we're obviously going through the rebuilding now. He has been given a shite hand and next year seems to be setting itself up as a year where these "excuses" -as y'all call them- won't be present anyway. Healing SHOULD be done by the start of next season, team chemistry will have had a season to develop, and hopefully the FO brings in some much needed depth through FA or the Draft.

I would feel really uncertain if I was claiming a coach who has had so little oppurtunity to succeed should be given the boot.

There have been examples of coaches squandering talent

I agree with this. unless eg or ad go down with injury next year monty should not get anymore leeway. next year it's 8th seed or bust imo. especially if we make a good FA acquisition
