How are stock dividends paid out?

Rookie question here.. I currently hold Conoco Phillips (COP) and the dividend is set to be paid March 1st. Will this dividend just appear in my trading account or what?

Do you have your account set for reinvestment or cash? If cash, you'll receive a check and a financial statement or it'll be deposited in your investment MM account. If reinvestment, you'll see an increase in your account balance by way of more COP shares.

It will show up in the balance of your investment acct as cash holdings.

Just checked and I'm not signed up for dividend reinvestment. Cash sounds good to me
