I hope we can keep that slimy little troll outta this state and it looks like Johnny boy is doing that......I know we don't always have top tier classes like this year...but if all we did was lock down our state in recruiting i feel we'd be at a minimum lock NIT/NCAA bubble viable every year.....

What say you??

Why are we concerned about Scott Drew...and when did he become slimy...and relevant to our chances of making post-season?

I don't think locking the state down is as important in hoops. I think we are gonna get a lot of international talent and try to get the best Louisiana prospect each year.

I just don't see us going after 5 Louisiana guys in a single year very often.

Plus imo, louisiana doesn't produce 5 SEC caliber players year in and year out like it use to.

I would not be happy with having teams with little depth.

There is a reason why Johnny intends on recruiting regionally

From what I've seen of Gathers so far, that was not as big a loss as it was made out to be.
His size is not conducive to the position he plays.

Trent may have also been right about Javan Felix.
He is not a very good point guard.
Corban Collins has looked better than him at Texas.

You are right. We have to follow the same formula that works in football.

Considering that our front court consists of JOB, the Tuba, and ......crickets....he was a significant loss. Now, we have recovered with next year's class, but he would have helped tremendously this year. That said, do we still bring in the forward haul we did this year if he is here? Probably not.

He may be a tad bit short, but the guy is big as sh*t. He's practically an NFL defensive end

He'd pretty much be a instant starter for us alongside JOB.

Help yes, but tremendous no.

Gathers has hands of stone, but he runs good and jumps good.

He reached his peak in the 11th grade.

Haha. I wouldn't be pissed if someone fought him... But yeah I've heard from multiple people involved big time in LA HS basketball how he's dirty as hell on the recruiting trail...

Gathers is quite the rebound machine. Perfect compliment to the other big, Isaiah Austin, who prefers to play on the perimeter. Not sure he well Gathers and JOB would have played together both being lane cloggers. But having one of the other off of the bench would have been huge this year.
