He should try to get the most he can get but being the 12th rated QB for 2012 and having the 15th most TDs, he doesn't deserve to sniff anything close to Brees.

Pretty much. When you are looking for a raise or negotiating a salary you try to get as much as you can, especially in the NFL, where literally one play can end your career.

Think of it this way....

If he wins Sunday, he will have as many Super Bowl victories as Brees and Peyton Manning.

That's a stupid and lazy way to think about it.

Yea, I'm pretty sure if Mr. Mulder was one of the two QB's in the Superbowl, he would have a high opinion of himself as well. But he is not.

Think about this: If Lee Evans didn't drop the TD catch or if Cundiff didn't shank that FG, Flacco would be playing in his second consecutive Super Bowl.
I love how people just assume Baltimore would have pulled it off in OT had Cundiff made that kick.

If he wins this superbowl, he has won as many as Brees and Manning. Not a bad reason to pony up.

What's a franchise tag like 17 mil for QB? Might be a little high
