I don't understand why he doesn't get more playing time torwards the end. Is it just because Monty is limiting minutes or does he think he is a liability or something? It just seems we play with more energy when he is out there.

Typical rookie restriction...it's common.

I realize its typical, but Anthony isn't your typical rookie.

You're right, which is why he leads all rookies in minutes per game.

He gets a good amount of 4th quarter minutes. Monty may just hold him out longer if he likes what he sees from guys like Smith and Anderson. No reason to sub out a hot hand just to make sure Davis gets his 4th quarter minutes. Davis doesn't seem to mind because he's a bigger bench cheerleader than Smith.

Ok?
So you don't think he should be playing more in the fourth? Just a couple minutes more?

No, dude has already shown to have some tender ankles. I would actually be ok if we limited his minutes more for this season.

Next season is when you start giving him a bigger workload.

I love watching him on the bench.

I guess it's just me being excited and wanting to see him more.

He's 19. We should see plenty more of him in a Pelicans uniform for a long time.

my guess is that his health has pushed him back. so Thorpe is anticipating a healthy second half?

They've cut his minutes. His average is way down in January. If he's being limited, the logical thing to do is put him on the bench a little early and leave him on slightly less little longer to trim 5-10 minutes off of his time per game, depending.

Monday was an exception, of course, but I'm guessing since it was the left ankle he injured, they were quite cautious.

I wouldn't mind him getting more minutes if he's completely healthy, but I think we need him more in the 4th quarter when we need some defensive bigs in.
