he Flaming Lips will release their thirteenth studio album titled, The Terror, on April 2nd in the US and April 1st in Europe.

It is comprised of nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect — but then again, maybe not. It’s up to you, the listener, to decide what it means to you.

Wayne Coyne explains, “Why would we make this music that is The Terror — this bleak, disturbing record? I don’t really want to know the answer that I think is coming. Maybe this is the beginning of the answer.”

Who's excited?

Ill be honest, I love The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi but everything since then has been meh. Plus their live show is embarrasing and just terrible.

I think it is time for them to retire. Wayne really thinks he is the second coming of Jesus or something.

Their live show is one of the best I have seen, and I have been to a lot. What is not to like? The visuals are great and the band has a ton of energy. I liked their last LP also.

Their live show is just an over the top gimmick and giant ego trip for Wayne. If you've seen it once then you've seen it enough.

Stoked for this album release. I love the Flaming Lips in the studio but like soj said, they are terrible live. I've seen 3 of their shows now and every time it's the same lame gimmicks. Lots of smoke machines, Coyne running around blasting confetti canyons into the audience, and then he runs around his cape and stares into the fish lens for awhile. Hopefully The Terror will be better than The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, the collaboration album, although I still dug a few songs from that album.

You make Wayne sound like Kanye. Give me a break. Ok so be gets into an air bubble, and that makes him evotistical? Just because he and the band put a lot of effort into their show doesn't make it over the top. I think the visuals compliment the music well.

You didn't enjoy Embryonic or At War With Mystics? I thought they were both much better albums than Yoshimi, which to me, had only a few stand-out tracks and a lot of noise filler.
