The hype was because he played at ND and ND was undefeated. Had ND dropped a game or two during the season then I doubt he would have even been a Heisman finalist. Yeah the grandma and girl friend stories helped a little at the start of the season, but by and large it was "ND is undefeated because of their D and T'eo is their best player with the best stats"

To be fair, I'm sure we would have dealt with JF puff pieces if he was allowed to talk to the media before the ceremony.
