You mean the guy who is 4th in Saints history in sacks, 14th in tackles and 3rd in forced fumbles and was voted to the all rookie team and a pro bowl?

I actually agree and think Montgomery will be that solid DE who starts for the next 8-10 years with solid numbers across the board. Don't think he will ever be a superstar though.

We are going to attempt to find a pass rusher to replace Smith, I'd rather it be someone who doesn't have concerns on how much effort you are going to get from him.

Or are you just saying you don't want an LSU player because you are more familiar with those players than say Hunt or Ansah. I'm sure those guys had the same issues, we just don't fall on the love/hate side of the fence with them.

the thread about drafting Reid last week made me laugh. We have a safety with questionable cover skills, and you want to draft a safety with even more questionable cover skills?

I think Reid will be good. I think he's a better cover safety than Harper, but not as much of a hitter. I think he was asked to do too much this year to be honest. I wouldn't mind Harper, Reid and IAQ rotating at the safety spot this year.

No way in hell do I want him on the Saints. I love all he did for LSU, but glad he is moving on. If everything I heard from coaches and classmates is correct, he will end up being the next Cecil Collins. Just glad he never went full batshite crazy stalker while on campus.

How is it possible that even a few people thought he was serious?

Perhaps the 242 other threads about LSU players playing for the Saints dulled their senses?

Take off the Purple and Gold glasses, folks.
They never will. If they think Jamarcus Russel can become a good NFL QB under Payton's tutelage you have to just give up and accept that there are dumbasses on this board that just can't be reasoned with.

I'd take my chances on TM7 before I would Wing.

Shoulda been a LDE imo, his game is much more suited for the strongside. 4th in sacks over saints history is not saying much. 14th in tackles still doesn't mean that much to me considering his time here.

BUT, 3rd in FF? Really, I would have never expected that. Way to go will smith.

Smith has been solid but not great his entire career. Never had speed but had decent swim moves and a good bull rush. The problem is that he got old and we had no one to take snaps from him, and he wasn't strong enough to bull rush effectively anymore leaving him with very little tricks in the bag. This season, he was pushing all the tackles he faced back 3 feet and not accomplishing anything because he just doesn't have it anymore.

This season more than ever, he seemed suspect to the run too. He lost contain on a number of high profile plays throughout the season.

Not really a knock though. If you could tell a team that they will draft a will smith, 100% of them would be ecstatic. You have to be doing something right to last this long, or just be on the right team.

As far as the comparison to Montgomery, I just dont see it. I feel like cam jordan is a MUCH better comparison to will smith game-wise (obviously one is lanky and the other isnt so not really body type wise.)

Montgomery to me is a bust or stud imo. He's 6'5" 260 which is the opposite of the smith 6'2" 285 Smith. I feel like hes got a much more speed oriented game than smith opting to try to beat guys on the get off rather than putting a move on them like Smith.

My issue with him, is that he seemed to disappear against other nfl type talent at offensive tackle. But he's still really raw.

I guess I didn't watch enough LSU this year because I don't see the Smith Comparison.

The threads and posts complaining about LSU players have now passed up the threads advocating drafting them.

We have the best punter in the league so naturally we should think about wasting a draft pick or a roster spot on a guy that was suspended in college twice. Naturally

You want a team with glaring needs to draft a special teams player in the same position they have a young pro-bowl talent at. You are an ignorant fan. We have names for people like that. A woman.

Since people keep bumping the thread and making serious comments, apparently sarcasm is lost on them.

And Paddy, shame on you for not getting the sarcasm.

Don't want Eric Reid at all. He got beat and y'all and is the 2nd most overrated player on our Defense (Simon). Those of you who want Reid clearly didnt watch the games this season.
