If you're using that phone, there's no reason to be using the mobile site. Why not use the standard desktop version?
As for your issue, I've never experienced that (same phone and browser). Try Chrome maybe? I switched to Chrome when I got the S3. It was a little glitchy on my EVO with Ice Cream Sammich but runs very smoothly on Jelly Bean.
