I don't see how this would work.

Your post reminded me of other reasons it probably won't happen. I think he was at Carenco when Carencro wasn't letting ULL recruit their players. There was some sort of rift there, and I think he was at the center of it because of his McNeese ties.

Those same heavy McNeese ties make me think ULL would be loathe to bring him on board.

He has burned quite a few bridges in South Louisiana.

Interesting history, but I think they're giving Hud 100% control over this hire. Don't think the University can blacklist any potential hire that Hud wants to make.

I get that, and that's how it should be. But as mentioned before, it's not going to play well on the recruiting trail for the people that know his history. He won't be able to recruit South Louisiana at all.

If this is Hud's last rodeo (and I think it is), it won't matter about his recruiting ties because that entire staff is going to get blown up anyway.

I'm not on the Lance Guidry pain train, and would 100x rather Jay Johnson take the helm than Guidry after Hud's departure.

If the guy is our best shot at an SBC championship before Hud exits right, I'm down with that so hard.

He spent a lot of time with Tubberville and was on Bama's staff when they beat Texas in the MNC. He also was arrested for domestic abuse.

Based on USL's academic standards, I would think Dane Cook's humor would actually be pretty big with its alumni..
